Let's hop on a free introductory call to see how I can assist you in this process.

Do you want to get a jump on your college app (called the Common App) before it officially opens for many colleges on August 1?

You can fill out all of the Common App tab with the exception of the Writing section, and that information will cary over into the next application season. Don’t be shy: get started and create an account.

The Writing Section, anything in the “My Colleges” tab, and anything involving Recommenders will be reset on August 1st, but all other information will carry over into the next application season without issue.

Even though you will fill out your application online, here is a look at all the sections you will need to fill out. Why don’t you get started on your personal essay and on that Extracurricular Activities & Work Experience sections before August 1 on the online app? Here’s the full PDF version of your First Year Application.

What will your teachers and counselor have to include in their evaluations you ask? Take out the mystery out of the equation.

Once the application is live from August 1st on, you will need to assign a recommender, and they will fill out an evaluation similar to what you see below.

Now that you know what info needs to be concluded, make an appointment with your teacher and counselor. Speak honestly about what you would like to have highlighted in your profile: this is also an excellent time to give them your resume, your essay, and to discuss your goals and plans for the future. I highly recommend you write out the points you would like them to include, as this makes the process much easier for your recommenders. Remember: many counselors and teachers are recommending several if not dozens of students. Make your points clear and your profile stand out.

Teachers will fill out the “Teacher Evaluation” and a coach/dance/outside instructor/etc. will have to fill out the “Other Evaluation.” Your high school counselor/designated representative at your school will have to fill out the “Counselor Recommendation.”
